How My Journey Began

By

The journey to healthy, non-toxic living is deeply personal, and like many big shifts in life, mine started with questions—questions I hadn’t thought to ask until the world slowed down. During COVID, like so many others, I found myself with more time on my hands, more time at home, and more opportunities to reflect on the choices I was making for myself and my family.

At first, I was simply focused on food. I wanted to ensure we were eating “good food” instead of “bad food,” but the more I looked into it, the more I realized that the picture wasn’t so black and white. It wasn’t just about avoiding processed junk or eating more fruits and vegetables—it was about digging deeper. What’s really in the food I’m feeding my family? Where does it come from? How is it grown? I realized that so much of what we consume is filled with ingredients I couldn’t pronounce and additives I knew little about. That was my wake-up call.

Around the same time, I started thinking about the products I used daily—cleaners, beauty products, baby care items—and wondering what they were made of. If I cared about the ingredients in our food, why wasn’t I questioning the products we were putting on our skin, spraying into the air, or using to clean our home? What was in them, and how were they affecting our health?

The answers weren’t always pretty. I started reading labels, doing research, and diving down rabbit holes about toxic chemicals and hidden ingredients in everyday items. I learned how marketing can make a product seem “natural” or “safe” when it’s anything but. That knowledge was overwhelming at first, but it was also empowering. With each step, I started making small but meaningful changes.

We swapped harsh cleaners for simple, non-toxic ones. I decluttered my skincare routine, opting for products with clean, transparent ingredients. I began prioritizing organic, locally sourced food whenever possible. These changes weren’t just about avoiding toxins—they were about creating a healthier, more intentional home for my family.

This journey hasn’t been about achieving perfection—it’s about being intentional and informed. I still have questions, and I’m always learning. Clean, non-toxic living isn’t just a trend for me; it’s become a way of life, rooted in my desire to protect my family and steward the gifts God has given us.

If you’re thinking about starting your own journey toward a healthier lifestyle, start small. Pick one area of your life—whether it’s food, cleaning products, or skincare—and begin asking questions. What’s in this? Is there a safer alternative? Remember, it’s not about doing everything perfectly but about making progress one step at a time.

This journey has been a blessing for me and my family, and I’m so excited to share it with you. Let’s keep asking questions, learning together, and building homes that are not only holy but also healthy.

This was so good. It can be so hard to get to the bottom of what’s in the things we use but it’s worth it! Excited to follow along on your journey with this! ❤️
